Mumps
Mumps is a caused by the mumps virus and is known for causing swelling of the salivary glands.

Cause of Mumps
Mumps is a viral infection which is easily spread through direct contact with an infected surface o via infected airborne particles such as those given off by someone coughing, sneezing or talking.

Preventing Mumps
Mumps can be vaccinated against and is included in the MMR vaccination which also immunizes against rubella and measles as well.

Treatment for Mumps
Treatment often involves rest and careful monitoring of symptoms.

Most At Risk
Pregnant women are at a risk of miscarriage and anyone who has not previously had the mumps or been vaccinated against mumps are at risk of the virus.
