Melanoma is a type of skin cancer that can affect any part of the body and if left untreated can be fatal.

Diagnosing Melanoma
Your doctor will perform an skin examination of the affected area which is then followed up by a biopsy which depending on your circumstances either part or all of the mole is removed and examined.

Treatment for Melanoma
Treatment will vary depending on the size and stage of the cancer. The removal of the melanoma can often occur during the diagnosis stage if it is small enough and has not spread. If the melanoma has spread, for example to a lymph node further treatment will be required which may include surgery and/or chemotherapy.
