Iquique is well known for its mild year round temperature. During the winter months of June to August temperatures average between 55 and 65 degrees Fahrenheit, with the summer months between December to February averaging around 60 to 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

The city of Iquique is located in the Tarapacá Region in northern Chile, and is just over 350 kilometers to the north west of Calama and the gateway to San Pedro de Atacama.

One of the most important events to take place in Iquique is Navy Day which is in honour of the Battle of Iquique which took place in 1879 during the War of the Pacific and is celebrated every November with military parades and general festivities.
