Barra da Tijuca Beach, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
This amazing beach is 11 miles long and is often referred to as Barra Beach and contains wonderful golden sand and great surf and is known to be one of the cleanest beaches that Rio de Janeiro has to offer.

As well as surfing there is enough room for other beach activities like volleyball and kitesurfing and the area has plenty of restaurants and bars to relax in as well as shops the largest of which is the Barra Shopping Mall which has well over 500 stores within it.

Barra beach does have strong currents so novice surfers and swimmers should stay within the life guards red and yellow flags, there are also opportunities to safely learn how to surf with surf and kite schools available.
