The city of Manaus is situated in the heart of the Amazon Jungle and offers plenty of shops, restaurants and attractions within its thriving centre as well as being the gateway to many Amazon tours.

The temperature in Manaus remains fairly constant averaging between 75 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit all year round. The most amount of rainfall occurs between December and May and when it rains it really rains!

Manaus is located in the North of Brazil in the Amazonas state.

The Adolfo Lisboa City Market has plenty of fresh local produce on offer such as fruit, spices and fish as well as items such as clothing, arts and crafts. There is also the Mercado Municipal market which is housed in a protected national monument which consists of a unique iron framework and stained glass windows where fresh fish and fruits as well as local handicrafts can be purchased. For a really impressive selection of handicraft items you'll need to travel to downtown Manaus to the Artesanato Branco & Silva which offers arts and crafts goods made from regionally sourced products including items such as painting's, ceramics, carved products and weaved goods, this is one of the best places to obtain a souvenir.

There are plenty of restaurants and eateries within Manaus, many of which offer traditional cuisine that is full of flavour, with soups and fish dishes amongst the most popular found in this region.
