Three Kings Parade
The Cabalgata Los Reyes Magos is an annual celebration on the eve of the Epiphany and is one of the most anticipated events in Madrid. The event attracts enormous crowds who come to witness and welcome the arrival of the Three Kings known as Melchior, Caspar and Balthazar.

The celebration is in honour of the three wise men who brought gifts for the baby Jesus, and every year the three kings arrive on beautifully decorated floats in full costume with plenty of accompanying theatrics from dancers and acrobats along the route as well as animals which in the past have included elephants and horses, making this an incredibly visually entertaining event of the year.

During the parade the Three Kings distribute sweets and gifts to children along the route and for many the Epiphany on the 6th is celebrated with great enthusiasm with many exchanging gifts on the 6th the Epiphany instead of or as well as on Christmas Day.

Date Of Three Kings Parade
This annual event takes place on the 5th of January often early in the evening.

The route often travels from Paseo de la Castellana toward the Plaza de Cibeles which is a few hundred meters away from Independence Square and the Puerta de Alcala.
