Day Of Immaculate Conception
This Roman Catholic Festival is an important annual celebration of the Blessed Virgin Mary's Immaculate Conception and is often a great time for friends and families to get together.

During this day many catholics will attend Holy Mass and attend religious processions where the statue of the Virgin Mary is carried high on a beautifully decorated litter that is often surrounded by colourful flowers.

Other events within the city often include firework displays, with many also taking the chance to view the impressive and detailed Nativity scene that is put up outside the Town Hall.

There is also the bustling Christmas Market known as Fira de Santa Llucia which is located outside Barcelona Cathedral and offers plenty of Christmas decorations and traditional figurines for nativity scenes as well as gift ideas, clothing and accessories.

Many of the restaurants remain open, however several shops in Barcelona are often closed on this day as people often take the opportunity to spend time with their friends and family.
