Cape Point, nr Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Point is situated within the Cape of Good Hope National Park and is around 70 kilometers from Cape Town. The area is also known as the Cape of Good Hope and the Cape of Storms.

Within the Good Hope National Park there are many walking paths marked out that offer short walks such as to Smitswinkel Bay or longer walks to Mast Bay and Cape Point. Whales can often be sited all around the coast of Cape Point such as at Buffels Bay, Smithswinkle Bay and Scarborough.

Within the Park are many species of Flora and Fauna such as Chacma Baboons, Buck and Cape Mountain Zebra. Just outside Simons Town you can enjoy watching a vast colony of African penguins.

The Flying Dutchman Funicular
The Flying Dutchman Funicular is also known as the Cape Point funicular and was named after the "Flying Dutchman" ghost ship. The funicular transports visitors from the main Cape Point car park up to the original light house which is situated at the very top of the cliff top and offers spectacular views on your way up.

Cape Point Light House
There are two lighthouses sited on Cape Point both of which offer fantastic views of the surrounding area and are incredibly positioned on the cliff edge. The lighthouse that still functions is positioned lower down to allow ships to see her beacon which is the most powerful in South Africa.
